MAYABEQUE PROVINZ. INFORMATIONS

The new province of Mayabeque was aproved by Asamblea Nacional del Poder Popular,and will began in January 2011, Is conformed by East part of Prov incia de la Habana Province.Has an area of 3,732.73 km2 and population (in 2010) of 381,446 habitants. Es una provincia eminentemente agrícola y tiene un área agricola de 248,102 hectáreas; o sea; el 66,5 % de la superficie del territorio.

The Mayabeque Provinz is conformed bu Municipalities :

Bejucal, San Nicolás de Bari, Güines, San José de las Lajas, Madruga, Nueva Paz, Batabanó, Jaruco, Santa Cruz del Norte, Melena de Sur and Quivicán.

The most important city is Güines, the provintial capital.

In the flatness of Havana province we find Ariguanabo river. It is the agricultural support of Havana City. Its fields with red lands, cultivated with viands, fruits, sugar cane or tobacco offer to the view, different greens tonalities; near or far, alone or in groups, it´s possible to find the Royal Palm Tree (Palma Real), the queen of the cuban farm. Mayabeque province is surrounding the East part of Havana City (the capital of the country).

Mayabeque Province has the Municipalities :

Melena de Sur, Bejucal, Quivican, San Nicolás de Bari, Güines, San José de las Lajas, Madruga, Nueva Paz,, Batabanó, Jaruco and Santa Cruz del Norte.
