Fortress "Castillo de Jagua"
Comentary: Declared National monument, its exposure rooms reflect the history of the place as a colonial military fortress. A Unique construction of its kind in the central region, built to keep intruders away from a great pocket bay (88 square km of surface) with deep draft and quiet waters and located on a rock in the canal of the entrance of the Cienfuegos bay only 25 meters high above the sea level. Geographically speaking it occupies the occidental border of the canal of the entrance to the bay, opposite to Pasacaballos beach. Once it had been built, it was the third most important fortress in Cuba.
